Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, at Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the eldest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. Ruth was a small child when her father, who was a carnival barker died. The mother of the family had to take on jobs like waitressing, cleaning and washing. Ruth was a student at the school located in Boston's tenement region, which was the most deplorable. In the midst of only two years in school the young woman left to pursue the acting career. It was not without problems. After obtaining a position in New York as a model for a magazine that dealt with detectives, she had a difficult time trying to get work on stage. She then worked as the hat checker in the nightclub before calling her quits and relocating to Boston. In the New England Repertory Company was the first position she held as a steady actor. The company paid her performing during the daytime as an usherette. Also, she studied drama. She ultimately graduated from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
